Endemic

Exploring the Wildlife Unique to Britain

Meet the rare, obscure and utterly British species found nowhere else on earth.

Around 70,000 species call Britain home, but how many of them can be found here and only here? Join conservationist James Harding-Morris as he uncovers the stories of our endemic wildlife – the plants, animals and fungi that are unique to these islands.

Meet the Author

Hi, I'm James. When I’m not trying to see every single species in Britain (I’m maybe 10% of the way there), or not at work (at the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland), I try and write interesting things about nature.

Maybe you’ve read my book Endemic? If you haven’t yet then please do. It’s absolutely a book that I have written full of words that combine to make stories and if I wasn’t so darned humble I’d tell you that it’s quite good.

I enjoy giving talks about endemic species, having spent years researching them, so if you, or your group, or organisation would like that, then please get in touch via the form below.

Or if you want to give me feedback on my book (ideally pleasant), then please fill out the form below.

Or if you know where there is a really rare and unusual species that you assume I haven’t seen and you want to invite me to see it, then please fill out the form below (in particular I would like to hear/see a Deathwatch Beetle, please).
